Neighborhood Night Out/Night to Unite postponed to August 3, 2021

Neighborhood Night Out/Night to Unite postponed to August 3, 2021 - the Morningside Neighborhood Association (MNA) began hosting NNO/NTU in 2005 to celebrate the Morningside Centennial. Last year, with root beer floats and the Morningside Bike Parade, was the biggest and best yet! This year, with COVID safety a priority, the Steering Committee is postponing the 16th annual all-neighborhood get-together to Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Please save the date!

National Night Out / Morningside In the Park - Save the Date (Sunday October 4) - Now cancelled

With COVID-19, National Night Out has been moved from August to October this year and is typically on a Tuesday evening. For northern states this doesn't work out as well with earlier sunsets.

So the Neighborhood Association is planning our replacement, Morningside in the Park, to be held on Sunday October 4th from 3-6 in the afternoon at Weber Park to take advantage of more sunlight.

Event will be BYOE ( Bring Your Own Everything) to allow for physical distancing. The bathrooms will be open but the event will be outside. Please wear recommended face masks.

This is a tentative plan based on current city/state recommendations for gathering sizes and is weather dependent.

Individual blocks/streets are free to have their own Night Out activities on the original National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct 6.

Cancelled due to freezing rain: Morningside Spring Party + Bike Parade on Sunday, May 19, 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Add Sunday, May 19, 3:00-5:00 p.m. to your calendars for the annual Morningside Neighborhood Association Spring Event + Bike Parade! Our spring party will be held at Weber Park and the children’s bicycle parade will be on Grimes Ave, which will be blocked off to traffic for the event. The bike parade starts at 3:30 p.m. and prizes will be awarded for creatively-decorated bikes! There will be lots of categories in which children can win, so get wild and creative with those bikes — balloons, ribbons, streamers, flowers — nothing is off limits.

Edina Police will have one officer present to meet with neighborhood residents and children, and a few of our local businesses have offered to donate food, drinks, and prizes for our event. In addition to the bike parade, there will be ultimate Frisbee and other assorted games and fun for everyone. The bike parade in Morningside is an old tradition we are starting back up again in 2019. Please plan to come out and get to know your neighbors! Hope to see you there.

2017 Neighborhood Survey Results

In April-May 2017, the Morningside Neighborhood Association surveyed community members on their concerns and priorities for the neighborhood.

First, thanks for taking part. We received responses…some of them very passionate…from 239 of you. This is an impressive level of participation and clearly shows how much we all care about this neighborhood.

Second, the results and your comments are now available. They can be found in the "Publications" page of this web site or by clicking here.  Quick summary: the main concerns were walkability, 44th and France development, traffic (volume and speed) and new businesses (restaurants, services, etc.).

The Steering Committee will communicate these results to the City and use them to plan programs, speakers and events.

If you have any additional questions about the survey please don’t hesitate to contact us at: edina.morningside@gmail.com
